Fitness Class: Ibbits Warriner Newhall,
pride of the Smith tennis team and Jordon (Jock) House field
hockey team, continued her obsession with sports after graduating
from college. When Jane Fonda came along in 1982, Ibbits was
Jane's first convert. Ibbits exercised every day with Jane even
when she was starring in Neil Simon's I OUGHTA BE IN PICTURES
on Broadway. Even though Jane gave up her business long ago,
Ibbits has carried on in her footsteps. Ibbits, now a world renowned
aerobics instructor (okay, famous in some homes in Bronxville,
NY), will teach us Jane's moves in her very own Jane Fonda workout
gear (well, she would if she hadn't thrown it away when it lost
its' elasticity). Be prepared with big hair and a tight leotard-
or just with enthusiasm! Beginners, big stomachs, sagging bottoms
are more than welcome! Fitness Center, 2:00. |
Helping
our planet:
We are inundated
these days with news about global warming, overfished seas and
pesticides and mercury in our foods. It all sounds so overwhelming.
What can be done? What can you do? Are we past the point of no
return? Come engage in a lively discussion with Jacquie Ottman,
the author of Green Marketing: Opportunity for Innovation
and an internationally recognized consultant to Energy Star,
Nike, GE and other leading companies. |

Seventies
Sing-along: Come to the
Gamut on Saturday
afternoon between 2:00-4:00 for a sing-along of our favorite
songs from the Seventies (at least those we can remember). The
Last Competent Chorus will lead the singing. We are asking you
to tell us your favorite Seventies oldies. A list of all
the top songs from 1973 to 1977, along with a form to submit
your favorites, can be found here. Event Chair Dianne Terp also invites
you to write parodies of any of the songs. For more information
about the parody contest, see our February 2007 newsletter or
email
Dianne.

- Shopping:
There are plenty of interesting shops in Northampton. Thorne's Marketplace is going strong on Main
Street, and you may be able to find a Green Street merchant still
in business, although several must move out to make way for the
new engineering building. (The College and the City of Northampton
have reached agreement on the development of the college-owned
property, including assistance for residents who are forced to
move.*

- Stroll around campus after dinner Saturday night
and see if illumination doesn't make you feel all fuzzy inside!
(Some of those paper lanterns are older than we are!)
